Do you love puppies … Island Miniature Schnauzers seeks a Home Life Trainer to provide a week of in-home puppy training with one of our pre-sold -12 week old Miniature Schnauzer puppies? We require you to provide a calm, loving, disciplined, safe environment combining your own puppy experiences with our Join Up Be One Have Fun training process. Experience with puppy and dog care, exercise, training, and a genuine love of dogs, together with a fenced yard and located in the Sooke area are a must. Ideally, we are looking for someone who is home most of the day and able to socialize the puppy inside and outside the home, starting with potty training, rope leash training, recall, introducing household and environmental sounds, other pets, children, bikes, trails, beaches, traffic, ocean, lakes … this is so much fun, and the puppies are so keen for new experiences.
You will be provided an outline of the puppy’s owner information, including family details, dog experience, interests, and activities to guide your training lessons beyond the basics. We want you to have fun, loving the puppy, teaching the puppy to be respectful and encourage learning. During the week, you check in with the new owners through email for a little update and a few pictures. It is fun to interact with such excited new puppy parents, and this makes it easier to let them go to their forever home knowing the owners in this way.
We will fully train you utilizing our Join Up Be One Have Fun training process, as well as provide ongoing support during your week and training templates for a final report you create of the puppy’s progress, utilizing your Microsoft Word. You email this to the office and ultimately it is shared with the new puppy parents to help set them up for their puppy training success.
This is a subcontractor position that pays $180+gst per week and we will try to provide you with at least 4-8 weeks notice to book you for a Home Life Training week. We do breed throughout the year, so there will be multiple opportunities to work with our loving, adorable, intelligent, inquisitive puppies. Thank you for your consideration of joining our Doggang.
